This week was bleh but I like to think this post is a bit better than that.

This week I’m in a bit of a funk that I just can’t seem to shake out of. I know the last post I wrote was all sunshine and rainbows and butterflies and generally good stuff, but somehow the week deteriorated since then. I’m in desperate need of a change of pace/attitude but I’m just not finding it within myself. However, today I’m off to socialize with some moms, so I think that may do me a world of good! It’s not that anything tragic happened in my week, it was just a bunch of little things that made it very bleh.

Anyway, I’m optimistic for a better weekend! Onto a bit of a (not depressing, I promise) recap.

Do you know what I did love about Austin?! Rainey Street and eating outdoors!

(This Week) I’ve Learned:

– Why (some) successful people wear the same thing each day.  “Indeed, having a diverse collection of clothing is overrated. We waste so much time worrying about things that have no substantial consequences, and don’t even realize how easily we could change this.” (here)

– That I shouldn’t necessarily strive for Pinterest perfection. “Make sure your child’s life is fun and meaningful, instead of pretty and picturesque. Their memories will all have that perfect light you try so hard to achieve. No kid grows up feeling neglected because her mom couldn’t repurpose her school T-shirt into couture.” (here)

– ‘Good’ habits can actually be holding me back from happiness. (here)

– How living with less can give us more. (here)

– That kids can live quite happily with less toys. (here)

(This Week) Clara

… really started rolling like a champ. She can still only roll in one direction, but she just keeps going until she runs into things.

… got really mad when she tried eating the leg of our coffee table and the entire thing wouldn’t fit in her mouth. She tried eating it like corn on the cob but got too aggressive and banged  her head on it. Whoops!

… has only slept in 2 hour increments all night. Pass the tea, please.

… developed an interest in Ozzie. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any interest in her.

… learned how to grunt. It is not attractive. She sounds like she’s in pain but really it’s just her new way of communicating. Charming.

… traveled really well to and from and all around Austin and San Antonio. I’m thankful for this ‘easy’ baby.

(This Week) I Wrote:

– A recap of our trip to Austin, and a bit about why it was disappointing. (Mon)

– About an impromptu day date in Chicago in which Tim and I acted like tourists in our home city. (Tues)

Did you learn or write or do anything this week that you’re especially proud of/happy about!?
