Weekend Favorites (v3)

Once again, I can’t decide whether this was the longest week ever or the shortest week ever. What did I do? Who did I see? Did I have fun? Did I rest? Who knows. I know that I am attempting to get the girls into a better routine (as part of my 2019 resolutions) and it’s working pretty well, if I do say so myself! It’s at least helping me keep my sanity – always a good thing!

I also know that I went out quite a few times with girlfriends, and good conversations and laughter fuel my soul like nothing else.

However, now that I think about it, I also spent this week cleaning pen ‘drawings’ off walls and crayon marks off my cabinets and poop off carpets and so let’s just call this week a draw.

Things I’m Into:

  • I started listening to the podcast “Teachers Pet” and it’s worth a binge listen (if you’re into true crime… and who isn’t!?).
  • “Parenting is as high stakes as it gets—another person’s life is in your hands. And many of us look to gurus for easy step-by-step instructions on how to do it right. Don’t get me wrong, tips and tricks are great. But what the ‘experts’ are telling us doesn’t always work. They don’t account for the fact that raising other humans is a messy endeavor. That each child and each parent is an individual with unique experiences and needs and quirks.” (here)
  • Have I mentioned that I received a Dyson cordless vacuum for Christmas?! Well, I did, and it is wonderful. Mainly because Tim enjoys using it so I don’t have to. This is not the exact version I have (I have the Dyson V10 Absolute), but it is a Dyson V10 and quite a bit cheaper!
  • I tried the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte (with soy) at Starbucks, and it is going to be my go-to drink for a while. My favorite way to order it is tall with an extra shot of espresso, with half the pumps of flavor.
  • “Try it now. Pick a decision you have been postponing, give yourself three minutes, and just make it. If you are overwhelmed with too many decisions, take a piece of paper and write a list of the decisions. Give yourself a set amount of time and then, one by one, make the best decision you can make in the moment. Making the decision — any decision — will reduce your anxiety and let you move forward. The best antidote to feeling overwhelmed is forward momentum.” (here)
