Tequila tasting party, where have you been all of my life!?

PSA: If you have not gone to a tequila tasting party, I’m not quite sure what you are waiting for. SERIOUSLY, people!

Two of my bestest friends (and phenomenal party hosts) planned a tequila party for this weekend, so the Husband and I put on our party shoes and baked a batch of chili-chocolate cupcakes (OK, I baked the cupcakes, the Husband washed the dishes) and headed on over to their apartment for some alcohol-related fun!

Sidenote: I tried a brand new sea salt hair product, and love love love it. I sprayed it on while my hair was damp and then went outside and read Game of Thrones while my hair finished drying, and it came out looking like this. Awesome, right?! I was so pleased.

The apartment we went to was gorgeous, per usual.

We did two rounds of tastings with three tequilas in each round. Admittedly, I was a bit confused about the ‘system’ (because after one margarita I’m pretty much useless when it comes to instructions). There were also a few different types of mixed drinks (obviously they were tequila based) and a delicious palate cleanser which I sipped in between sips of tequila.

We were instructed not to shoot the tequila, but to sip it, and this is one instruction I followed closely.

I really should have taken more pictures, because everything was seriously beautiful. Each guest had their own set of three shot glasses with little symbols on them, so we could keep track of our tequila. There was also small chalkboards with drawings to explain what types of tequila we were drinking.

There was some very high-end tequila at this party, and I was surprised that I could actually truly tell the difference in the smoothness of the drinks. Plus, the lack of hangover I had this morning speaks volumes about the quality of the tequila. Nothing was being poured out of a plastic bottle, that’s for sure! There were also chips and guac as well as some empanadas for the guests to munch on. Thank goodness for food, or I would have been in very bad shape!

It was so, so fun and I basically want to do this whole night all over again every single weekend. Is that possible?

I chose the ‘lips’ stickers while the Husband chose the smiley faces.

It was an especially awesome party because I got the chance to meet such fun people! Is there anything I love more than meeting a new friend?!

No, no there is not.

I will say that I generally stay away from tequila, because it tends to make me a bit… crazy. But aside from offering totally unsolicited dating advice to men I had never met before, and sharing way too much about my sexual history I think I held it together fairly well!

I have no idea why this photo filter made the Husband look like he’s wearing sunglasses inside. Photo editing fail!

We left the party around 2am and took a cab home. I don’t exactly remember going to bed, but I will say that I woke up in just my jewelry and makeup and nothing else. Which I think is a really good sign, right? (And when I woke up I found all of our clothes strewn all over the staircase., so there’s that.)

An added bonus is that I went to brunch without having to redo my hair or makeup! This is a major efficiency win.

And I wasn’t even hungover! Expensive tequila is where it’s at. Seriously.

For brunch I had an asparagus frittata with a side of cheese grits and some orange juice. Well, and I had a cupcake or two because there were some leftovers, and I never let a cupcake go to waste.

The rest of Sunday was spent relaxing with the little Monster, walking in the sunshine, and watching TV.

Perfection.

Cheers to a terrific weekend and to the start of what I’m sure will be another great week!
