Is it really Monday already?!
I say that every weekend, but this time I mean it. The weekend flew by and I am mentally unprepared for a full 5 day wait until the next one!
This past weekend was full of family. The Husband’s mom (my new-ish MIL) graduated from Loyola University on Saturday, so her (our) entire family came into town to celebrate.
Highlights included:
// Eating deep dish pizza with the immediate family on Friday. Our sister & brother-in-law flew in from LA, so of course we needed to get some Chicago style pizza.
// Watching the ceremony. The Husband’s mom surprised all of us kids by not telling us that she was the speaker for her class! She gave a wonderful 7 minute speech during the ceremony and it was truly something special to watch.
// Spending time with our niece. She’s so grown up now… 10 months old. I haven’t seen her since she was 6 weeks new, and she is definitely a lady-on-the-move now, crawling everywhere!
// Eating a fancy dinner with 16 members of the Husband’s family to celebrate his mom’s big accomplishment!
// Enjoying some spring weather. It’s always nice to go outside without a jacket on after about 12 centuries 8 months of being bundled up.
// Going out to dinner and spending some time with my mom on Mother’s Day.
The Monster didn’t have such a bad weekend either, because he met a new play friend. He didn’t quite know what to make of a small human… so he kept trying to play with her, but it didn’t really work out so well. At first he thought she was a dog, but when attempts to play with her like a dog didn’t work, I think he figured out she was a more-human-like specimen.
Their game basically included her picking up his toy, him grabbing it from her hands and dropping it at her feet, repeat.
I don’t know how this entertained either one of them, but it was adorable.
And that was my weekend! I managed to sleep a lot too (unfortunately it was because I wasn’t feeling so well on Saturday night, but I got some sleep nonetheless, so I’m sure it was my body’s way of forcing me to rest.)
I hope you and a wonderful and food-filled weekend and made time to celebrate those moms in your life!
… and moms-to-be
… and grandmas
… and moms that aren’t around anymore but whose spirit lives on in the things they taught us
… and women who wish they could be experiencing motherhood but are struggling with infertlility
… and the moms who have lost children far too soon
… and all of the other types of moms out there!
These women were all on my heart yesterday.
