This week I reverted back to my 23 year old (single) self.

The Husband left me to my own devices this week while he was out of town on business, which means I basically acted like a college kid (or myself in my bachelorette days). Minus the drinking (only because I’m knocked up, otherwise I’d be drinking, too!). I stayed up too late, ate a lot of crap, spent too much time on the computer, spent time with girlfriends… life was good indeed. I mean, it’s good when he’s around too, but there is a certain amount of freedom I feel being on my own again!

I also spent a few days at my mom’s house, so I could get out of walking the little Monster in the sub zero degree temperatures that Chicago was enjoying earlier in the week. My mom spoiled me rotten and brought me Dunkin Donuts bagels and hot chocolate and makes me cinnamon rolls and basically it was just really nice visiting her! Even if she didn’t give me all the best food in the world, I’d still have a great time catching up with her and my brother.

It felt like a super short week since I worked from home for two days and only went into work a few days… and now it’s Friday – woot!

And with that, let’s get onto Friday Fours.

4 Favorite Things:

  • Building community.
  • Pears. Juicy pears, especially.
  • Thoughtful blog comments.
  • Pinterest. Even though I thought I would hate it, I actually love it. (Yeah, I’m super behind on this one.)

4 Confessions:

  • Last night I was eating Chinese food (quite happily) when I realized that the Chinese food was five days old. I’m still convinced I may die.
  • The Husband has left me to my own devices for a few days now and I ended up eating s’more poptarts for dinner more than I’d care to admit. And cheese and crackers. And old Chinese food.
  • I’m the worst dog parent ever. Ozzie has been going to the bathroom on the porch this week so I don’t have to walk him in the freezing cold and I didn’t clean up after him and then it snowed and now there’s buried poop all over our porch… oh the shame.
  • I was really nervous about publishing my post yesterday because I thought it would be hard for my readers to identify with and may not be useful to anyone. Plus, it’s such a big topic that I was a bit afraid to tackle it at all! (However, after I received some very encouraging emails and comments, I’m super glad that I wrote the post.)

4 Pregnancy Notes:

  • I think I felt the baby move for the first time this week! Or at least I thought I could finally identify it as baby movement.
  • I’m finally getting a bump that doesn’t go away if I stand up straight.
  • We bought a glider for the nursery and i’m very excited about it! We also finished booking both babymoons this week. EEEEK! (That was me being waaaay excited for these trips!)
  • Thing I Googled this week: ‘pregnancy boob rash.’ Pregnancy = sexy.

4 Links Articles:

  • On social media (via Relevant Magazine)
  • On houses being a poor investment (via jlcollinsnh) – I would like to point out that this post isn’t ‘why you shouldn’t buy a house’, but instead it’s about viewing a house as purely an investment. An interesting article with interesting comments!

  • On contraception (via Rachel Held Evans)

4 Posts I Wrote This Week:

  • First trimester pregnancy ‘confessions’. (Mon)
  • Our next adventure abroad is booked! (Tues)
  • For the record, I don’t think anyone should look down on young women with husbands and kids. (Wed)
  • “Let’s talk about (the timing of) sex, baby!” (Thurs)

I seriously feel like life is just so freakin’ busy lately. In a month we move to a new part of town. I don’t know how long my contract will last on my job so that could be changing at any point. We’re booking trips (we now have 2 weekend trips and a 12 day trip happening in the next 2.5 months) like crazy. We just bought a lot of new furniture for our new apartment. We are spending lots of time with family and friends. We’re mentally preparing to be parents. The Husband is traveling for work on and off for a few weeks. We have some visitors coming into town so we’re hosting for a few weekends.

Just lots of big life stuff! I’m sure I’ll talk about it more later, but I just wanted to kind of summarize what’s been really going on in our lives lately. It’s been perfectly chaotic and really, I could not be happier with how everything is falling into place.

It’s just a whirlwind!

In blog admin notes: I’m so happy to have so many new pretty faces on my sidebar! Please go check these bloggers out, they’re all amazing and wonderfully kind people.

Cheers!
