I wish we were still in Portland.

I’ll write a better recap post later this week, but I wanted to drop-in to say…

This past weekend was wonderful. Tim, Clara, and I went to Portland, Oregon, and it was even better than I had anticipated it would be. When I think of vacation spots, I don’t necessarily think of Oregon, which is a mistake on my part!

I was immediately struck by the beautiful scenery, friendly people (and I mean very friendly. While we were in the airport waiting for our flight we met quite a few people who live near and around the Portland area, and all of them seemed like sincerely nice people), clean air, tall trees, environmentally friendly practices, gorgeous coast line, and delicious food.

Our close friends moved to Portland almost a year ago, so of course we took the opportunity to visit them as soon as we got the chance! They live in a beautiful house in a pretty area of Portland, and they were generous enough to let us stay with them. We spent our time eating at amazing restaurants (I was seriously impressed by the food in Portland), perusing Powell’s Book Shop, sipping coffee and/or chai tea, looking at waterfalls and the beautiful scenery of the gorge, and walking barefoot along Cannon Beach.

The 3 days we spent there were not nearly enough. If we could have stayed there longer I would have spent more time in the bookstore; I would have eaten more than my stomach could handle; I would have hiked on at least one trail; and I would have gone wine tasting. I can’t wait to plan a return visit!

Have you ever been to Portland, Oregon?

Cheers!
