Isn’t it amazing how quickly ‘unplanned weekends‘ can turn into ‘unproductive weekends‘, especially in the fall?
This past weekend the Husband and I didn’t really have any plans.
We had some things we could do, but nothing we had officially signed up for.
(Well, except for some volunteer work on Saturday morning – we did get our booties up to work on an IT project for a homeless shelter that we’re donating some time/talent to.)
Plus, the Husband decided to work from home on Friday, so I got to hang out with him for three days straight. (Although, to be fair, I left him alone for the most part on Friday and spent the day on the couch recovering from a killer CrossFit workout*.)
We have double the (puppy) love in our home right now!
We have a lot of excuses for not doing anything, though. (And I will now list them for you).
- College Football.
- NFL.
- Super, super sore legs from CrossFit. (I felt like I had just run a marathon. I don’t know if this means I’m out of shape, or if the workout was really that hard).
- Thunderstorms.
- We are dog-sitting the cutest little dog ever.
- I’ve recently discovered Breaking Bad. (I always wait until the entire show is done so I can watch season after season without needing to wait for a new episode. I’m not exactly filled with patience.)
- We had food in the house, so there was no need to go out to eat.
- We also had a bottle of wine and some hard cider at our disposal.
Is there anything more delicious than ‘homemade’ (I used a mix, though) biscuits?!
And that right there sums up my weekend. Oh, and sleeping – we slept a lot. With two dogs in the bed. One of which is NOT a sound sleeper.
But doesn’t that sound like some fall weekend perfection right there? I think so.
It looks like we have a bit busier weekends lined up for the rest of this month – but I’m relishing that this weekend was cozy, relaxing, and good for the soul.
We have twice the number of guard dogs now! Intimidating pair, right?
But now I have a bijillion things to catch up on, since the rest of the world kept going, even if our household checked out for a bit. So, Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was filled with all things wonderful.
*The CrossFit workout that I’m still not recovered from, 3 days later…
We started off with some back squats and Romanian deadlifts and THEN:
The thing about this workout is that you could totally do it at home. Your butt will be sore for a week, I promise (and I think that’s a good thing, because it’s getting buff or something like that). I tried to get the Husband to do it so he could feel my pain, but he declined. Anyway, all you do is do air squats for 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat that 8 times. Do that for all the exercises and BAM! glutes of steel.
Cheers to Mondays! (My third favorite day of the week),
