The amount of stuff we did this week is astounding/exhausting.

I’m not going to lie, this four-month age is amazing but it’s also no joke.

We’re experiencing sleep regressions, growth spurts, long periods of alertness, and vaccinations… it’s a rough time in our little house (which you probably already knew from my posts over the past few weeks)!

I’ll write a post about this later, when I’m fully recovered from it. Maybe. I kind of have a habit of promising posts that I don’t end up writing… remember that Portland Recap I wrote? Yeah, neither do I. I’m still going to write it eventually though! I promise.

This week was also filled with awesomeness. We spent great time with friends eating Thai food and watching documentaries and another night we had our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving with our church small group. We celebrated our second wedding anniversary by going out to a fancy dinner and then relaxing with each other for an entire day, organizing the house, playing with Clara, and eating pizza on our couch. It was kind of a perfect example of our life transition this past year, actually. We also had dinner with Tim’s parents and grandparents, which was amazing because we had four generations together! My grandparents aren’t alive anymore, so I don’t get to have that experience on my side of the family, and I’m especially thankful to get to experience it through Tim!

Now that I’ve typed this all out, it’s no wonder I’m exhausted. Geesh, how much can we cram into a week?! Plus we had quite a few appointments, I went to the gym (with Clara) twice, I went to my mom’s church group, I went to a playgroup with moms so we can chat about all things mom and infant related, I spent way too much time and money at Target, I parallel parked by myself for the first time everJust send wine, please. Or more coffee, as this one little cup I’m on is not going to cut it.

Last weekend we were in Michigan City at our small group retreat with these wonderful friends, who we also celebrated Friendsgiving with this week!

(This Week) I’ve Learned:

  • How to (eventually) turn Clara into a feminist. (here)
  • That we (as a society) have stooped to new lows and we’re arresting people for feeding the hungry. (here)
  • Some minimalist hacks. “One can furnish a home very luxuriously by taking out furniture rather than putting it in.” —Francis Jourdain (here)
  • Why I should be more selective and generous about what I give to the poor. (here)
  • That there are 2,000 coyotes living in Chicago. Ummmm say what?! Also, I learned that coyotes can mate with dogs and wolves and I am now fascinated by coyotes. (here)

(This Week) Clara

… got her four month vaccinations and took them like a champ. I swear she only cried for a few seconds! Phew.

… but then she became super uncomfortable the day after the appointment, which is normal but so sad/frustrating.

… went to sleep at 5:30pm one night. Of course it was a night where Tim and I were out and she was home with her grandma, so I didn’t get to enjoy it, but I have hope that this will become more of a trend!

… started putting her feet in her mouth, which I find far cuter than I probably should.

… became a rolling machine, but only to her left side.

(This Week) I Wrote:

  • A brief recap of our first two years of marriage. (Tues)
  • About a particularly rough mom day. (Wed)
  • My thoughts on cloth diapers. (Thurs)
I keep saying I’m going to slow down, and I really, really am. Because I am absolutely drained, even though our hectic schedule is obviously so worth it because we did so many amazing things this week with a lot of special people. On the plus side, a busy schedule means that I’m getting to be more comfortable as a mom and am getting out and about more and more with Clara by my side. (She makes quite a cute little sidekick!)

I hope your weekend is off to a fantastic start!
